Friday, we have a variety of unique non-racing events throughout Cross County. Local civic and hobby clubs are offering to share with you some of their passionate interests. Memphis Soaring Society will offer glider rides and we have a wonderful state park, Village Creek State Park. Click here for more information, and please visit The Cross County Museum for a quick history lesson. The museum is on the corner of East Union and Mississippi St., 1 block east of Falls Blvd. Click the link on our web site for more info.
The Italian Dinner is hosted by the Cross County Historical Society and will offer lots of home made pasta, veggie and meat sauces, salad, garlic bread, and desserts. You will pick up your race packet, ask questions, eat, and enjoy the company of your fellow racers.
Saturday morning, you’ll show up at Wynne High School, take care of business (we have a very high port-o-potty to racer ratio!), and get ready for the starting gun. This year we will have the honor of hearing our national anthem performed on "Bagpipes" by a young man from Jonesboro, Arkansas.
There will be a variety of things for your family and support crew to do after you take off on your race. The First United Methodist Church Youth Group is having a pancake breakfast next door, various groups will be selling arts and crafts and the Wynne high video journalism class will be interviewing anyone they can. And be sure and not miss The Cordial Cottage's annual Christmas open house. They are located on the NW corner of Falls & Forrest. You won't be disappointed in the unique items and specialty Christmas ornaments for everyone you know.
After the race, showers and dressing rooms are available at Wynne High School. The local Girl Scout Troop will be serving the best bar-b-que you’ve ever tasted, as well as Mazzio’s pizza, home made desserts,( provided by our local JPC young ladies) sodas, water, fruit, slaw, and baked beans. Massages will also be available.
